An Asian American Film Thing! is an event that was created in 2017 by Angel Yau and Becky Yamamoto inspired by the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and the community’s struggle of being heard in the Entertainment Industry.

Requirements

Please submit your films if you would like to be part of this event.
DEADLINE to submit: May 10, 2026 by 11:59pm

Seeking short films, music videos, comedy sketch videos, and more, created by Asian, South Asian, and/or Pacific Islander American filmmakers (i.e. creator, director, writer).

An Asian American Film Thing! accepts works in progress. Please let us know the status of your piece and what will be completed by the screening date.
Please do not submit if you are not a AAPI filmmaker.
At this time, they are only accepting NYC local filmmakers (unless you happen to be in NYC on May 31).
