Boston Art Review seeks a visionary journalist or cultural worker to join the team as they launch a new editorial vertical dedicated to investigating the civic forces shaping the arts across New England. This new position will anchor a major initiative supported by the Barr Foundation to expand public discourse around arts policy, civic life, and the critical issues facing our cultural economy.
This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Executive Director. They are looking for someone eager to lead an editorial effort that connects institutional decisions to individual stories and who believes that writing is not just documentation, but infrastructure for collective action and civic engagement.
They are seeking candidates who are based in the Greater Boston area or willing to relocate to the area. Candidates must be able to work in the office located at the Boston Center for the Arts three days per week. Some evening or weekend work may occasionally be required but will always be communicated in advance. Candidates must be comfortable attending civic events including town halls, legislative sessions, advocacy events, etc.
They are ambitiously aiming to hire for this role with a start date no later than October 1, 2025.
This is a grant-funded position with guaranteed employment through December 2027. Additional employment following the two-year term is subject to funding availability.
