Artistic Director

The Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre has initiated a search for its next Artistic Director. Signature’s Board is seeking candidates excited by the opportunity to join Signature in its efforts to advance the theatre to its next level of artistic and organizational achievement. It is their intent to engage the successful candidate by spring of 2021.

Heralded as a “musical theatre powerhouse” by The Washington Post, Signature has achieved a national reputation for its contemporary musicals and plays, reinventions of classic musicals, development of new work, and engaging educational and outreach opportunities.

Signature seeks a dynamic artistic leader who is an active artist/director or producer and will lead with their work and/or curatorial aesthetic. The successful candidate will form an effective, dynamic partnership with Signature’s Managing Director to establish an executive leadership team that reports directly to the Board of Directors.
