About the Role
The Artistic Administrator is a part-time role supporting independent choreographer Benjamin Akio Kimitch in the development and execution of artistic projects. Reporting directly to Kimitch, the position assists with general operations, rehearsal and research assistance, project management, communications, and fundraising. The role includes both remote and in-person work in NYC, April–December 2026. Anticipated commitment is 10–20 hours per month, with additional hours during intensive weeks (see Key Dates). Key Responsibilities

Administrative
- Lead on proposing and executing admin systems.
- Track tasks and workflow.
- Administer timelines and calendars.
- Support on external communications.
- Manage all invoices and receipts.
- Track general operating expenses.
- Maintain and organize Google Drive, contacts and donor lists.
- Website maintenance.
- Biweekly admin meetings.
- Other special projects as they arise.

Fundraising
- Grant application prep for artist and grant writer.
- Track grants, deadlines, and compliance.
- Track individual donations.

Rehearsal Assistance
- Assist in rehearsal preparation, including call sheets.
- Organizing artist research materials.
- Support in-person at select rehearsals and public showings.
- Support in-person during tech and performances.

About the Artist
Benjamin Akio Kimitch is a dance artist and producer based in Brooklyn, NY. He is the recipient of a Bessie Award, Creative Capital Award, and Asian Cultural Council Fellowship. Commissions and presentations with New York Live Arts, The Shed, The Kitchen, Danspace Project, Princeton University, and The Noguchi Museum. Artistic residencies at MacDowell, Yaddo, MANCC, Movement Research, and others. Alongside his artistic practice, Kimitch is Producer at Perelman Performing Arts Center – PAC NYC. Compensation
Hourly rate of $25/hour for in-person and remote administrative work. Independent contractor.

Requirements

Qualities and Experience
Previous experience working administratively with independent performing artists, with interest in new work and R&D. Excellent computer skills and fluency with Google Suite are required. Other apps include Expensify, Givebutter, and Submittable. The candidate should be an ambitious leader and a collaborator. Empathetic, curious, calm, and highly detailed.

Key Dates
March 14 - October 4: Rehearsals are generally held on Saturdays or Sundays. The artistic administrator will be responsible every week to send daily call sheets and occasionally prepare and deliver materials (digital and physical).

Availability is required during the following intensive weeks:
* April 6-10: Residency in Gowanus (10am-5:30pm)
* July 27-31: Engagements in NYC
* Aug 25-29: Residency in NYC
* Sep 28 - Oct 10: Engagements in NYC
