Artist in Residence Program

Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (FAAM) invites local and international artists, including but not limited to those from Asian regions, for a certain period, to provide them with opportunities to create and present their artworks in Fukuoka, so that they encourage and inspire each other to achieve their full potential globally from Fukuoka city. Through conducting various artistic exchange programs with local citizens, it hopes to nurture a deeper understanding of Asian contemporary art and cultures and to foster a diverse range of local cultures. Furthermore, FAAM aims to become an interactive platform for Asian art, through efforts such as building an international human and organizational network.

Application Instructions

1) Download the application materials Download the application forms and a format of recommendation letter (Application Form no.1 to 3) from the FAAM artist in residence website. https://faam.city.fukuoka.lg.jp/en/residence/requirement/

2) Submit the online application form https://forms.gle/RePsEMZnEjt5VJ1j9

Fill in and submit the online application form, with all the application forms no.1 to 3 attached.
*If you cannot access to the online application form, please apply after referring to the note on our museum’s website.

3) Supplemental material
(a) Digital images of artworks created in the last 5 years.
- List the Title, Date , Medium/Method, and Description of each work on form no.2.
Each image must be numbered with your name in the title.
- No more than 10 images, for the maximum of 5 works.
- Do not attach video data directly on the application forms. Please provide the link(s)
available to download online.
(b) Applicant’s portrait (digital image)
The size of all the application material should NOT exceed 20MB.
*Submitted documents will remain at FAAM for private research reference and will not
be returned to the applicants.
