Art at a Time Like This

Art at a Time Like This (ATLT) invites artists to submit proposals for Take One Action, a public art project and virtual exhibition. Artists are asked to propose one clear, actionable step that everyday people can take to protect democracy, responding to civic or environmental issues such as threats to civil liberties and human rights.

Selected works will be wheat-pasted across Lower Manhattan (September–October 2026), presenting step-by-step actions that encourage public participation. Additional works will be featured in a virtual exhibition on the ATLT website.

Take One Action supports artistic practices that address urgent social conditions within their political systems and imagine pathways toward equity, dignity, and collective care.

• Honorarium: $1,000 for selected public artworks
