AFI DWW+ Applications Are Open!

AFI DWW+ is a tuition-free, year-long directing workshop that supports emerging narrative filmmakers. Participants move through the production cycle of a short film while receiving hands-on instruction from industry experts.

Since 1974, AFI DWW+ has championed emerging filmmakers, making it one of the nation’s longest-running and most respected directing programs. Among its earliest participants were Maya Angelou, Anne Bancroft, and Cicely Tyson. Today, AFI DWW+ alums include former DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter and Academy Award-winning director Siân Heder.

Requirements

The program accepts up to eight outstanding candidates who demonstrate a passion for visual storytelling, the drive to pursue a directorial career and a commitment to growth. Applicants will be notified of their status in mid-December.
