Catskill Mountain Shakespeare seeking Actors & Musicians for As You Like It

Seeking AEA and non-AEA actors for all roles. We strongly encourage performers of all ethnicities, ages, sizes, genders, and abilities to submit. We care about your identity and we are holding consciousness about the stories that we tell by putting specific actors in specific roles. We will have gender fluid casting for this production and we encourage people from across the gender spectrum to audition.

Please submit a 1-2 minute Shakespeare or heightened language monologue of your choosing, brief song/musical talents (instruments, etc) and your headshot & resume. Please also indicate any instruments you play in your submission. We are actively seeking drummers, bassists, guitarists, keyboard players & singers. Please submit rock or contemporary samples, not musical theater.

No prior experience with Shakespeare or verse is necessary; we’re seeking actors who love language and who will communicate the play’s poetry with clarity, humanity, and imagination. We invite you to use your authentic voice and dialect in your submission.

Contract dates are June 19th-July 31st (includes housing).

Callbacks are in person in NYC scheduled for March 3rd & 4th. You will hear if you have received a callback by the evening of February 20th.

Portrayed by the same actor: Duke Senior is honest and fair, Duke Frederick is desperate and vindictive.

Rosalind - Female / Non-Binary
Clever, Bright, Strong. Discovering herself. Banished by her Uncle Duke Frederick, she escaped to the forest of Arden.

Celia - Female / Non-Binary
Deeply Devoted, Practical, Honest. Balances Rosalind. Daughter to Duke Frederick.

Touchstone - Any Gender
A Snob, but an excellent friend. A fool who is a fish out of water in Arden. Opportunities for physical comedy.

Orlando - Male / Non-Binary
Brave, Intelligent, Hopeless Romantic. Boxing / Stage Combat experience is a plus.

Adam: Any Gender
A Father Figure and Dear Friend to Orlando. Honorable and Devoted.

Oliver - Any Gender
A person with power. Beginning the play as Insecure and Manipulative, he changes in the Forest of Arden.

Jacques - Any Gender
Melancholic, Honest, Funny. Caught between wanting to be alone and wanting to play for an audience.

Silvius - Any Gender
Knows what he wants and goes for it, patient, shameless. In love with Phebe.

Phebe - Any Gender
Proud, Headstrong, Direct. Doesn’t shy away from the truth.

Corin - Any Gender
Of the earth. Hard-worker who cares for all people and animals.

Audrey - Any Gender
Earthy, Brash, In her Body. Down for a good time.

Lord Amiens - Any Gender
We are searching for a Musician to help us develop the music for this project to aid in the creation of Arden.
