About the Asian Cultural Council:
The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) advances international dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect through cultural exchange activities between Asia and the United States and within Asia. This mission is accomplished through fellowships, grants, and other programs that support individual artists, scholars, arts professionals, and cultural institutions.
ACC has supported nearly 6,000 exchanges across 26 countries and regions and 16 artistic disciplines since its founding in 1963. Fellowships to individuals include not only grant funds to cover the costs of international travel and research activities but also substantial program support in the form of professional guidance, introductions to artists and other cultural leaders, and logistical assistance. In addition, ACC supports cultural institutions to further its programs of bringing diverse voices to the cultural landscape.
The Opportunity:
With generous support from the Henry Luce Foundation, the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) is seeking a Fellow to be a part of the Programs Department for 18 months. The ACC Fellow will work closely with ACC’s Programs and Marketing/Communications departments towards our aim of having a robust, diverse cohort of American grantees that reflect the demographics of the U.S. and who wish to foster their understanding of creative development in Southeast Asia. More concretely, we will award 6 to 8 U.S.-to-SEA Fellowships in our 2024/2025 grant cycle.
To accomplish this goal, we seek an individual whose primary responsibilities and tasks will include:
• Research, identify, and contact organizations, alliances, associations, universities, etc. in the U.S. to create a directory of arts and cultural organizations, especially with a focus on constituents interested in SEA
• Work closely with the Marketing/Communications Department in efforts to recruit U.S.-to-SEA applicants for the 2024/2025 ACC grant cycle
• Assist the Programs Department in researching and verifying potential partners in the Southeast Asia region and recommend possible connections for grantees of 2024/2025 grant cycle
• Work closely with the Programs Department on grantee applications and grants administration processes for the 2024/2025 grant cycle, which opens in late 2023
Other responsibilities related to above may include and not be limited to:
• Work with the Program Officer to test the 2024/2025 grantee portal and assist in training affiliate office staff for the 2024/2025 grant cycle
• Support program activities related to the 2024/2025 grant cycle and partnerships with identified organizations for SEA effort
• Update demographic data of 2012-2017 historical grant files in database in order to establish a baseline for SEA-related efforts for and during 2024/2025 grant cycle. This may require working off-site where our archived materials are housed.
