Public Art Open Call for Brooklyn-based Artists

As part of the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s 2026 public art commissions, Brooklyn-based professional creatives are invited to apply for Brooklyn Forged, a new public art installation that will be installed on the Flushing Avenue fence line between Clermont Avenue and Adelphi Street (in front of Building 3) between mid-May to early November 2026. This commission celebrates the skills, materials, and entrepreneurial spirit that have shaped Brooklyn’s identity through industrial innovation. Proposals should highlight the intersections of labor, culture, and creativity—honoring milestones from the borough’s past while reflecting the dynamism of its present. This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-visibility installation that will engage thousands of daily passersby and anchor the Yard’s 225-year legacy of making and innovation.
