Carroll Hall opens its doors to select artists throughout the year. We invite you to apply for this unique opportunity and use Carroll Hall as your personal studio space to expand your creativity. We welcome visual artists, performance artists, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, writers and more into our program. Past residencies included a mosaic artist, a movement-based performance company, a painter and printmaker, and a music composer.

Discovery, wonder, and the unexpected are big themes at Carroll Hall. We encourage you to use our unique indoor and outdoor space and our tranquil environment to explore your creativity during your residency at Carroll Hall.

Requirements

This program supports emerging and established artists across disciplines for the development of new works or works in progress. Carroll Hall is dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all artists regardless of age, gender identity, ethnicity, race, religion, or sexual orientation. 21 years of age and older. Must be a New York City-based artist.

Evaluation Criteria:
+ Need for studio, rehearsal, performance space
+ Quality of portfolio work and samples
+ Assessment of artist-supplied materials to be used during your residency (i.e. paint, video cameras, etc.)
+ Ability to participate in a final performance, gallery show, or other showcase of your work as prepared during your time at Carroll Hall

Final Showcase:
We strongly encourage every artist-in-residence to participate in a final showcase of their work. This is a chance to share your project from your residency at Carroll Hall with the public. Past artist showcases have included an outdoor gallery show, a two-night dance performance, and hands-on arts classes taught by the artist-in-residence at the end of their residency.
