2022 Joyce Awards

Since 2003, the Joyce Foundation’s signature annual program, The Joyce Awards, has supported the creation of new works by artists of color to foster more culturally vibrant, equitable, and sustainable communities in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis-St Paul. NOTE: You do not have to be based in these cities, but you should be collaborating with an organization there.

The Joyce Foundation will grant six (6) Joyce Awards across visual, performing, and multidisciplinary art to support collaborations between artists of color and leading arts, cultural and community-based organizations. Each $75,000 grant enables the creation and presentation of a new work that engages and builds community, with $25,000 of each grant awarded directly to the commissioned artist.

The application process for the 2022 Joyce Awards is open now, with letters of inquiry due September 13, 2021. Additionally, there will be an information session on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 12pm CST that will offer guidance on the application process.
