This year Women Center Stage is breaking boundaries to address the media, race, culture, war, youth, gender, and more!

DIRECTORS’ WEEKEND

Ten directors create 15-minute pieces considering how our country’s history is written by the media, how media manipulates the personas of women in power, and what realistic or fantastic colossal shift could occur to change the media narrative.

NEW LOOKS @ NEW WORKS

Bora Yoon, Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai and Soomi Kim explore the intersections between research, narrative and hybrid theater. Join them as they share new excerpts in development and dialogue about the nexus of race, culture, gender, new visions for how we create work for a new world.

THE FUTURE HAS SPOKEN

A day of theater, poetry and music by young women from viBe Theater Experience, Girl Be Heard, Prospect Theater Company’s Summer Teen Intensive, and Urban Word NYC. Sat, July 20 at 4pm & 8pm

I AM THE BEGGAR OF THE WORLD

An evening of poetry from the Pashtun women of Afghanistan collected by award-winning journalist and poet Eliza Griswold, followed by a screening of the short film Snake by Seamus Murphy. Tue, July 30 at 7pm
