Organized by Sophia Park, selected for the 2024 AHL–Chun Family Foundation Curatorial Open Call Exhibition.
What’s carried through the winds? examines how tenderness operates within intimate interpersonal relationships and larger societal structures. Acknowledging tenderness as an important feeling and quality in relationships, and the challenge in quantifying and defining it as it is influenced by individual experiences, the exhibition gathers five artists with diverse interpretations of tenderness.
The opening events on May 3, Sat 4-8pm.

- Performance by Hyoju Cheon and Gladstone Deluxe: 6pm
They also invite you to join them for Memory:Mode, a participatory work that is part of the exhibition. Eunwoo Nam invites you to join them at AHL Foundation to participate in a gathering to share music tied to personal memories in conjunction to the exhibition. During this gathering, all participants are invited to bring a song or two on vinyl, cassette tape, and/or CD that reflects their understanding of tenderness. Participants will be invited to share their stories about each song, and a collective playlist will be created and recorded. The recordings from gatherings will play in the exhibition space. There will be limited capacity to ensure that adequate space and time is given to each song and story. Sign up through the links in bio for specific dates to participate.

The exhibition will close with a final program Tending to, a reading and book launch for What’s carried through the winds?. Please join them on May 31st(Sat) 1-3pm for a poetry reading by Rebecca Mzengi Corey, a reading room organized by slow cook, and a conversation with the book designer Mianwei Wang and collaborator Caroline Taylor Shehan.
