The Pleasure of Liberation: Katerina Jeng in conversation with Jezz Chung

Wednesday, June 26, 2024

Join Katerina Jeng & Jezz Chung in a conversation centered on pleasure: What does rooted, embodied, and integrated pleasure look like—and why is it necessary in the pursuit of collective liberation? How might we re-indigenize pleasure? What systemic and cultural conditions contribute to our pleasure, and how might we build a world where pleasure is accessible to all?

This event is in celebration of Katerina’s debut poetry collection, Gospel of a Whole Sun. There will be a poetry reading, a guided meditation, and community conversation; as well as an appearance by Gentle Oriental (Gabrielle Widjaja), who will discuss their process creating the cover of the book.

This event is free & open to the public. No registration required—just show up, and bring your friends!

About the book:
From community activist and poet Katerina Jeng, a lyric exploration of the author’s journey back to her voice, her power, and the truest version of herself.

Gospel of a Whole Sun is a moving collection of poetry chronicling one woman’s journey of self-discovery over the course of three pivotal years. It documents the aftermath of a traumatic breakup, navigating anti-Asian violence during a global pandemic, coming out, and, ultimately, falling in love with life again.

A joyous and inspired debut from a gifted creator and healer, Gospel of a Whole Sun is a poignant look at the relationship of art-making to personal liberation.
