The Distance of Blue
7 – 10PM
The Distance of Blue is an online exhibition pavilion curated by Ping Ho as part of The Wrong Biennale 7th Edition (Nov 1, 2025 – Mar 31, 2026), bringing together 50 works by 49 artists from around the world. Conceived as a digital exhibition space, explores the ocean as a metaphor for longing, displacement, perception, and the emotional geography of blue.
For this screening at Millennium Film Workshop, The Distance of Blue moves temporarily from the browser to the cinema. A selection of 36 video works from the pavilion is presented in a shared physical space, inviting viewers to reconsider how distance shifts when the digital encounter becomes collective.
Alongside the screening, a browser-based station of The Distance of Blue will be installed in the Millennium Gallery, offering visitors the opportunity to drift through the online pavilion in its native format. The installation will remain on view through March 20, 2026.
Drawing inspiration from Rebecca Solnit’s notion of The Blue of Distance, the exhibition reflects on blue not simply as color but as conditions: the visible and invisible, the near and far, the remembered and the imagined. Across video, sound, image, text, AI-influenced art, and interactive projects, the selected works navigate fluid boundaries between bodies and landscapes, memory and interface, algorithm and gesture.
The Wrong Biennale, known for its decentralized and hybrid exhibition model, connects artists, curators, institutions, and audiences across digital and physical nodes worldwide. Within this network, The Distance of Blue operates as both pavilion and proposition: that drifting through screens can become a form of embodied experience.
Presented at Millennium Film Workshop, a space long dedicated to experimental moving-image practices, this program repositions the online pavilion within the material conditions of projection–light, duration, sound–allowing these works to resonate differently in shared time.
