SPACE UPTOWN: COMMUNITY (FOR) FAIR 2026
Opening Reception: Friday, February 13, 6–8 PM
Space Uptown: Community (for) Fair 2026 is a collective exhibition presented by AHL Foundation, bringing together arts and cultural nonprofit organizations based in Harlem and the Bronx. On view from February 13 to March 14, 2026, the exhibition highlights the missions, practices, and community-based cultural work of each participating organization.
Each organization contributes objects and materials selected to represent their work, including archive materials, artworks, performance costumes, musical instruments, videos, and historical objects. Together, these materials expand the definition of exhibition objects beyond traditional artworks, foregrounding the labor, relationships, and cultural practices that sustain local communities.
The term “Fair” is used intentionally as both a conceptual framework and exhibition format, emphasizing gathering, exchange, and visibility, and reflecting how equity and community are practiced through shared space and ongoing relationships.
Location: AHL Foundation Gallery
Admission: Free
Participating organizations:
Artistic Noise, Children’s Art Carnival, Garifuna Heritage Center for the Arts and Culture, Sisters in Sharqi / Harlem Hafla, While We Are Still Here, and AHL Foundation.
