SOAK 2016: LEIMAY LUDUS Lab with Peter Sciscioli
3 – 6PM
June 11, 3pm-6pm, $36
This lab is intended for anyone interested in exploring or using voice as a practice and/or in performance. Using an anatomy-based approach to increasing awareness of the breath, accessing many dimensions of sound production, and working into speaking and singing, we will discover how exploring the voice as movement can expand the variety of choices that are available to performers, connect us to our unique vocal power, and allow for a fuller means of expression through the body.
Peter Sciscioli is an interdisciplinary performer, creator, educator and producer working in dance, music, theater and film. Since 1997 he has created work with a variety of collaborators for performance, site-specific and gallery venues throughout the world. In 2012, Peter founded the International Interdisciplinary Artists Consortium, a network of artists and producers working across disciplines and cultures. He has engaged with communities in countries from Mexico to Macedonia, worked extensively with artists Meredith Monk, Jane Comfort and Daria Fain, and performed in work by Jonathan Bepler/Matthew Barney, Ping Chong, DD Dorvillier and Philip Glass/Mary Zimmerman, among others. Peter currently teaches for the Trinity/La MaMa program, and curates the Moving Arts Lab at Earthdance.
