QVNYC x Queens Botanical Garden Movie night: A Mother Apart
Join for an evening under the stars at Queens Botanical Garden in collaboration with Queer Voices: NYC Film Festival as you celebrate Pride through film, nature, and community. They’re screening A Mother Apart—a feature documentary by Laurie Townshend following acclaimed poet and activist Staceyann Chin. The film intimately explores Staceyann’s journey as a single, queer, Chinese-Jamaican-American mother raising her daughter in a world that challenges and redefines family.
Through laughter, truth-telling, and vulnerability, A Mother Apart invites us to reimagine motherhood and queerness on your own terms. Bring your blankets, your friends, and your full, fabulous selves for a night of queer joy and cinematic storytelling surrounded by nature.
