QT AAPI Artist Portrait Day

Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) would like to celebrate the queer, trans AAPI artist community with an offering this Pride Month: a free artist portrait taken by photographer Mengwen Cao. The portrait, we hope, will help the next phase of your career and embody your spirit as an artist.

All NYC-based AAPI artists (across disciplines) who identify as queer and/or trans are invited to apply by submitting this short application. The deadline to apply is Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:59 pm ET.

The A4 Staff will select 9 artists based on need and relationship to the queer, trans community. We will notify the selected and non-selected artists 1-2 weeks following the deadline.

Selected artists are expected to show up “photo ready” and will each have 30-minutes for 1 look and receive 1 edited portrait. The portrait sessions will take place on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 10am-6pm at Mai House Studio at 99 Canal St. in Chinatown. The space is ADA accessible and has an elevator. Specific time slots will be assigned based on each artist’s availability. A $25 deposit is required to reserve a time slot; this deposit will be refunded after the artist attends the session.
