Welcoming Kumu Kaimana Chee back to the Pasifika Series! In May, there are two offerings: workshops in Hula Kahiko and Hula ʻAuana, ancient and contemporary-style hula.

These 2-hour, open-level workshops will impart history, terminology, and the cultural resonance of hula through embodied practice in the style of Hālau Nohona Hawaiʻi.

Kahiko workshop participants will learn Kō Maʻi Ulu Hua, composed by Patrick Makuakane, who first taught this hula in NYC. The ʻAuana workshop will learn Lei Ana Kauaʻi.

Please expect to dance barefoot. Pāʻū and pareu welcome.
