Noh Movement Workshop + Demonstration

Experience noh theater’s stylized movement and vocalization with Yamai Tsunao, a young member of the Komparu school who is actively engaged in bringing the noh tradition to audiences in Japan and abroad. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn basic moves and chanting techniques, as well as a segment of one of noh’s most significant pieces, Yuya, written in the late 15th century. The session will conclude with a demonstration by Yamai. Space is limited. Some dance experience preferred. Participants must wear socks and comfortable clothing.
