Nobuko Miyamoto: A Song in Movement: Opening Night Screening & Reception

For the 47th Annual Asian American International Film Festival’s opening screening, Asian CineVision is proud to present Nobuko Miyamoto: A Song in Movement, co-presented with the Asia Society. This event will be held on Thursday, August 1 at the Asia Society (725 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10021) in New York City.

With Nobuko Miyamoto: A Song in Movement, filmmakers Tad Nakamura and Quyên Nguyen-Le deftly explore Nobuko Joanne Miyamoto’s decades of groundbreaking cultural work that has united communities and set the bar for Asian American storytelling. As a singer, dancer, and long-time activist of the AAPI community, there is no better person to encapsulate this year’s theme of memory, reconnection, and vibrant community of Asian American creatives across the country.

All are welcome to join us at the Lila Acheson Wallace Theater for this film screening, which will run 60 minutes and will be immediately followed by a live performance by Nobuko Miyamoto herself, accompanied by Derek Nakamoto. There will then be a Q&A with Nobuko Miyamoto and filmmakers Tadashi Nakamura and Quyên Nguyen-Le.

Afterwards, we’d like to invite you to Asia Society’s 8th Floor for a reception. Light refreshments will be provided by AAPI vendors in the NYC area. Details to follow.
