Chinese poetry provides fertile inspiration for musical creation by today’s composers. The poetry of two great Tang Dynasty poets is represented in this concert. Li Bai’s wit and use of vivid imagery are reflected in Zhou Long’s Mount a Long Wind, Wang Guowei’s Drinking Alone with the Moon, Huang Qiuyuan’s The Moon at Fortified Pass. Wang Guowei’s Three Refrains on the Yang Pass is arranged for Wang Wei’s poem “Song of Weicheng” set to music in his time. Join Music From China’s tribute to composers inspired by the Golden Age of Chinese poetry.
Tickets are available at the door on the day of the concert for $20. The event is free for students and seniors.
