Máhiká Maker: A Celebration of Filipinx Aesthetics
7 – 8PM
Join us for a virtual conversation with this panel of Filipinx artists whose work and ideas are helping to redefine the fields of contemporary art, fashion, and design.
In what ways do history, language, craft, and custom act as mediums of transmission within and across generations and borders? This presentation will explore the commonalities of how personal identities are embedded within contemporary practices—not bound by the visible but by approach, process, nuance and a pride that is hidden from plain sight.
Featured panelists:
- Jian Deleon, Nordstrom Men’s Editorial and Fashion Director
- Angela Dimayuga, author of Filipinx: Heritage Recipes from the Diaspora
- Avena Gallagher, stylist to brands Telfar and Eckahus Latta
- Josh Kline, artist
- Michelle Lopez, artist
- Paul Pfeiffer, artist
- Jon Santos, founder of Common Space
The day before the panel, you will receive a link to view additional pre-recorded conversations with featured panelists.
This event is part of a series of public programs supporting Carlos Villa: World in Collision (through May 8).
