Looi, a New York-based singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist, has been gaining loyal cult following as a performing artist in New York’s music scene, recently playing at iconic venues like Mercury Lounge and The Sultan Room.

“Western Therapy” is Looi’s debut EP, where she uses intergenerational storytelling to explore her experience understanding her Chinese-Malaysian heritage through a Western lens. Rooted in indie sensibilities, the five-track project spans multiple genres and reflects on themes of gender, race, and intimacy — from exotification to cultural dislocation to the quiet resilience of familial ties.
