Hot Glass Hangout: Cooking with Glass (Peking Duck Edition)

Friday, December 12, 2025
6 – 8PM

Taste what Peking duck is like when roasted by hot glass! Culinary art like you’ve never seen before!

The December 2025 Hot Glass Hangout will feature Chinese-American artist Lena Wang Luo and Taiwanese artist Molmol Kuo. Together, they will attempt to cook and serve Peking duck with hot glass within 2 hours. Starting with 2150°F molten glass, Lena will be shaping and blowing glass with the objective of using the end product as a heat source and cooking tool that will encompass the bird. Molmol will be flame working borosilicate glass in order to cook the bird from the inside out.

Both Molmol and Lena are artists and educators based in Brooklyn, NY. Molmol Kuo’s artistic background is in film and electronic art, and her body of work includes video, interactive installations, augmented reality, software, wearables, and sculpture. She serves as artist and director of numerous productions that combine storytelling with art and technology. Lena Wang Luo’s artistic background is in conceptual art and glass. Her practice includes installation, sculpture, painting, and photography. She also co-owns and runs ETA Gallery, a pop-up gallery based in Brooklyn.

  • For those that do not eat meat, dessert will be a mochi-like rice cake. This will be vegan but NOT gluten-free.
  • Everything cooked will be served to the audience until the food runs out.

Hot Glass Hangout is a free monthly demo series at UrbanGlass usually featuring their multi-talented team of studio technicians and administrative staff doing what they love to do.
