From Inner Hearing To Sound: Listening To Taiwan – An Artist Talk & Piano Performance With Chun-Chieh Yen

What does Taiwan sound like to the world?

In this special Artist Talk & Piano Performance, internationally acclaimed pianist Chun-Chieh Yen(嚴俊傑) invites audiences on a musical journey through the sounds and stories of Taiwan.

Drawing from his recent U.S. tour with chamber musicians of the Taiwan Philharmonic, Yen will share the diverse voices of Taiwanese music, from the textures of indigenous traditions to the works of contemporary composers. He will also reflect on his experience performing with OneSong Orchestra (灣聲樂團), a group dedicated to bringing Taiwanese music into the classical tradition.

As a performer, educator, and founder of the International Maestro Piano Festival & Competition (IMPF&C), Yen has long moved between the stage and the classroom, mentoring young musicians while expanding Taiwan’s presence on the global stage through music. His work reflects a deep commitment to artistic mentorship and cultural exchange.

The program will conclude with a short solo piano performance, where Yen will perform two pieces from the Western repertoire through his unique perspective as a Taiwanese pianist, followed by an audience Q&A.

This event is supported by the Taipei Cultural Center of TECO in New York, in partnership with the New Asia Chamber Music Society.
