The Newcomer
12 – 5PM
What Can We Do? Awardee Annette Cho presents “The Newcomer”, a multimedia community art project featuring a short animation, interactive digital artwork, and a participatory art-making workshop. It explores cultural pride within the Korean diaspora, inviting participants to reflect on their heritage through the lens of food as a symbol of cultural identity. The animation and interactive elements serve as prompts to spark this reflection.
The event is open to the public; however, admission to Queens Botanical Garden requires a purchased ticket.
This project is a part of the What Can We Do? artist grant program, presented by Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) and is supported by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Special thanks to Council Members Christopher Marte and Sandra Ung. Projects focused on the support of Palestinian creators and their communities are supported by the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice.
