Colors of Spring 春之彩韵
3 – 5:30PM
The Chinese Music Ensemble of New York announces its Spring Concert “Colors of Spring: A Symphony of Tradition and Modernity.” As the only full-scale, non-youth traditional Chinese orchestra in the Americas with over 40 musicians, The Chinese Music Ensemble of New York performs timeless classics and innovative modern compositions since its founding in 1961.
This concert features solo, chamber, and ensemble pieces, including two US premieres for: “Wuxi Scenery” from “Impressions of Yanhuang” by renowned composer Bao Yuankai and “Spring” by composer Lu Lianghui
We also welcome acclaimed sheng virtuoso Tang Mingze, a graduate of the Central Conservatory of Music for a solo performance of “Jin Melody”. Our two conductors for this event are Julian Gau, the Chinese Music Ensemble of New York’s own conductor, and Irfan Tengku, a distinguished Julliard conductor.
