New York, NY – From June 14 – 18, 2011 the second annual Chelsea Music Festival celebrates music and art in dynamic venues with world-renowned musicians and exciting newcomers on the international music stage. Inspired by the Chelsea neighborhood’s rich history and cultural vibrancy, CMF features Classical and Jazz music alongside World and New York premieres of works by living composers. Join Grammy award-winning jazz bassist John Patitucci, cellist and CMF 2011 Artist-in-Residence Alban Gerhardt, violinists Augustin Hadelich and Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation featured artist Ye-Eun Choi, New York Philharmonic violist Rebecca Young, pianist Helen Huang, Composers-in-Residence Brad Balliett and Doug Balliett, Visual Artist-in-Residence Carri Jobe and many more for five event-filled days. Performances will be held at spectacular locations throughout the cultural hub of Chelsea, including the General Theological Seminary, the Chelsea Art Museum, St. Paul’s Church and the Leo Baeck Institute.
CMF 2011’s Franz Liszt and Gustav Mahler theme will be explored through all aspects of the Festival, from programming to post-concert receptions. The CMF 2011 schedule includes daily evening concerts, a family program, panel discussion, late night event and impromptu daytime performances at various Chelsea landmarks such as the High Line and Hudson River Park.
