Baryo Brooklyn presents Buffalo Soldiers & The Philippines: a play reading of BUFFALO'ED by Jeannie Barroga, followed by a facilitated conversation on Afro-Asian Histories. Presented in partnership with Hi-ARTS.
Barroga’s BUFFALO'ED theatrically interrogates the role of African American Buffalo Soldiers in the Philippines during the Philippine American War, circa 1899.
The reading is directed by Claro de los Reyes and featuring actors: N’Sangou Njikam, Benton Greene, Amara James Aja, Nicole Aiken, Kristian Espiritu, Sergio Mauritz Ang, Sienna Aczon, Ron Russell, Victory Chappotin, and Michael Salgarolo
Following the reading will be a Facilitated Dialog by historian Michael Salgarolo and scholar Cynthia Marasigan.
