Bandung Community Conversation: The Black School
6:30 – 7:30PM
A4 and MoCADA are pleased to present a talk with The Black School, an experimental art school teaching Black people and people of color to become agents of change, founded by Joseph Cuillier III and Shani Peters in 2016.
Centering design justice as a core pillar of their praxis, The Black School also creates interactive, liberatory tools that help waymakers as they design their own creative activism projects. Like The Black School TBS Process Deck, which uplift the principles of the Black Radical tradition, these tools use a series of prompts and choices that challenge structural inequalities and affect positive social change at the community level to transform social realities.
Their mission is to promote and extend the legacy of art in Black radical histories by providing innovative education alternatives centered in Black love. They have held over 100 workshops on radical Black politics and public interventions that address local community needs, serving over 400 students, and also produced three Black Love Fests, collaborated with more than 40 professional artists, and partnered with over 50 organizations.
The talk will be livestreamed on the MoCADA website.
This event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required.
