The South Asian Women’s Creative Collective (SAWCC) is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to the advancement, visibility, and development of emerging and established South Asian women artists and creative professionals. Formed in 1997, by a small group of NYC artists, SAWCC has grown to become a nationally recognized arts organization with a robust calendar of programs including, an annual visual arts exhibition, literary festivals, multi-disciplinary symposiums, performances, talks, film screenings, and more. Through these programs, the group has earned a reputation for showcasing cutting-edge work that deals intelligently with issues of gender and cultural representation. The 2017 Visual Arts Exhibition will be guest curated by Saisha Grayson. This exhibition is supported in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
