Reporting to the Director of Development & External Affairs, the full-time Visitor Engagement Assistant will provide a positive and engaging reception for visitors to Print Center New York’s new ground floor location at 535 West 24th Street, in the heart of the city’s West Chelsea arts district. This is an essential role that provides the first point of contact for our visiting public and for scheduled appointments. The Visitor Engagement Assistant will collaborate with colleagues to develop, implement, and modify as needed effective strategies and procedures to deliver a quality visitor experience at Print Center New York. The position fosters a welcoming, safe, and engaging space that is conducive to interactions, repeat visitation, and membership conversion. This new position bridges programmatic, operations, and fundraising work, and joins the organization at a dynamic moment of growth and potential. Administrative tasks to support the organization at large are key responsibilities of the role. Welcome Desk Responsibilities:
Open and close the gallery daily
Maintain a tidy, safe, and organized lobby and welcome desk
Proactively greet, assist, and engage approx. 800+ weekly visitors in an inviting manner that will enhance visitor experience, repeat visitation, and membership enrollment
Learn about current exhibition and stay abreast of upcoming exhibition and campaigns
Engage public with information about public programs and member events
Respond to questions, offer guidance, and solicit/document feedback (and relay back to relevant staff)
Log and maintain visitor statistics
Serve as point of contact for group tours and class bookings
Check-in groups and introduce art viewing guidelines
Learn faces and names of stakeholders and interact with current and prospective donors and members
Handle retail sales, including catalogues, bags, and memberships
Provide information on Benefit Editions on display and relay inquiries to staff

Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain donor files through donor database
Assist with website maintenance and social media
Run occasional errands for the organization
Assist during exhibition openings, special events, and trustee meetings, such as preparing beverages, RSVP check-in, etc.
Receive, organize, and distribute mail to staff
Answer the general phone line and transfer appropriately
a talent for connecting with a broad and diverse public and a range of stakeholders

Salary range $42,000-45,000. A comprehensive benefits package includes employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, and generous paid vacation and personal/sick/safe time.

Requirements

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree
1-2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an art gallery, museum, performing arts space, or event/retail venue with customer service, or comparable experience
Strong interpersonal and verbal skills, with a talent for connecting with a broad and diverse public and a range of stakeholders
Punctual, reliable, and dedicated to the work
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency with Google Suite/Google Drive
Ability to work Saturdays and occasional weekday evenings
Ability to sit for prolonged periods
