PhotoHub, launched by the Freelancers Union last month, offers independent photographers affordable rental space and photo equipment for their business. Located inside Industry City in Sunset Park, PhotoHub was created with the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) New York, and MPB, a platform used to buy, sell and trade photo and video equipment. Anyone looking to reserve a time slot to shoot portraits, headshots or product photos can book through the Freelancers Union website. Members of the ASMP can book the space for free, while non-members pay $60. The space is equipped with over $20,000 worth of professional equipment – including cameras, lighting and backdrops, donated by MPB.

Book the PhotoHub/classroom as your own photography studio with equipment included! Take advantage to experiment with our lighting equipment to either build your portfolio or book it for client projects.

The PhotoHub is presented by MPB and in partnership with ASMP NY.

ASMP New York is the largest chapter of ASMP, the country’s premier photography trade association with 38 chapters across the United States. For the last 75 years we have been been a catalyst for success in the industry for established photographers working with the world’s top brands or publications, YouTube creators, film or video makers, and the students who are the future of the industry of tomorrow. We advocate for, educate, and provide community for all image makers.

MPB transforms the way that people buy, sell and trade photo and video gear. As the largest global platform for used photography and videography equipment, MPB is a destination for everyone, whether you’ve just discovered your passion for visual storytelling or you’re already a pro. Founded by Matt Barker in 2011, MPB has always been committed to making gear more accessible and affordable, and helping to visualize a more sustainable future. MPB recirculates more than 485,000 used products every year, extending the life and creative potential of photo and video equipment for creators around the world. Headquartered in the creative communities of Brooklyn, Brighton and Berlin, the MPB team includes trained camera experts and seasoned photographers and videographers who bring their passion to work every day to deliver outstanding service.
