Stingray Artist Journey

Stingray Artist Journey is a 9 week virtual program that sits at the cross-roads of an art residency and a retreat, a space to generate work in your medium of choice, alongside supportive workshops to help heal creative blocks, and tap into new ways of accessing your body’s natural intelligence. Stingrays are known to symbolize developing confidence, sense of self, or spine. We hope this journey can serve as a place where one strengthens one’s artist-spine and bolsters one’s authentic voice, turning down the loud voices of the inner critic and internalized and externalized oppressions. They will strive to create a space to move beyond systems of mass production, overriding speed, and fierce competition that infringes upon and limits creative force. How can one practice and create a different system of value, that celebrates the artist within?

This journey was born out of a desire for art to be reclaimed by the people. To reaffirm each individuals’ birthright to practice creative expression. Art enhances lives. Acts of creation are deeply necessary in creating a world that is just; a world where people live in right relationship with each other and with the land. Acts of creation are necessary in creating a world where there is room for wonder and joy and beauty, a world that feels closer and more meaningful, with space for soul callings. Imaginations are the only places one can find new road maps.
