The Layar Project

The Layar Project’s first program, the AAPI Script Lab, is now open for submissions and applicants for its October 2023 cohort. The AAPI Script Lab is a monthly program that aims to support AAPI screenwriters in their storytelling journey no matter what stage they are in. This program will be held fully online at no-cost. Donations are optional.

Participants of the program will receive:

  1. Constructive feedback on their screenplay from other selected AAPI screenwriters
  2. A featured article on The Layar Project’s website about the participant and their script.
  3. One-on-one consultation session with The Layar Project’s founder
  4. A chance to network and connect with other AAPI filmmakers

Facilitator: Lerryant Krisdy

Lerryant Krisdy is an award-winning Indonesian filmmaker based in NYC. His work has enabled him to collaborate with the European Union, Vidio, iFlix, Viu, and many others. He founded The Layar Project to realize his passion in film education and AAPI representation in media.

Deadline: September 27th, 2023.

Selected participants will be announced on October 1st, 2023.

More info:



  1. A finished OR unfinished screenplay. No limits on pages and forms: it can be for a short film, a feature-length, or a TV pilot. Outlines are also accepted.
  2. Identifies as Asian, Asian-American, or Pacific Islander.
  3. Any kind of filmmaking experience is required.
  4. Age 18 and up.
  5. Stories that include any AAPI identities are preferred.
  6. Available to meet via Google Meet at least once [EST timecode].
