Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) is seeking a Programs Manager who will be responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and day-to-day management of all artist- and arts organization-focused programs of A4.

This is a temporary, 40 hours/week position covering the duration of a maternity leave.

This role is an integral part of the A4 Team and will work collaboratively with our Communications, Operations, and Development team members to ensure our programs are responsive, efficient, and sustainable.

Responsibilities Include:
• Develop content/timelines, manage logistics, and oversee day-to-day details for programs such as Town Hall, ConversAAtions, career roundtables, and workshops. List of scheduled programs (some are tentative).
• Track, evaluate, and report on programmatic activities and data, including budgets, on a regular basis.
• Manage relationships with A4’s Fellows, Residents, and Awardees including: regular check ins via email, in person, or Zoom; assisting in identifying artistic mentors, advising on public programs, and other general support.
• Execute or manage all tasks (with the support of other A4 staff) associated with A4 programmatic events including: run/supervise audio, video, and technical aspects of live events; archive and post event media; manage registration; set up A/V equipment in the event space and/or provide technical support over Zoom.
• Perform basic photography and videography tasks as needed and/or supervise external vendors (or comms manager) to document public programs.
• Maintain programmatic partnerships with government agencies, media and press, corporate partners, nonprofit partners, and other stakeholders.
• Help maintain the constituent database by providing support to the comms manager
• Coordinate with the comms manager for event promotion including: newsletter and press releases, graphics for social media, writing and editing event copy, and creating and managing event pages on the A4 website.
• Work closely with staff colleagues on the programmatic segments of fundraising events as well as other fundraising activities (including grant applications and reports) to support programs.
• Maintain an awareness of issues affecting the Asian American creative community.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • This position requires a highly-organized and creative individual who has a passion for the arts and the role they play in fostering a vibrant and healthy society.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the arts and/or Asian American issues is preferred.
  • The successful candidate should have at least three years of hands-on programming experience in the arts, including some managerial experience and a general understanding of artists’ and non-profit organizational issues across artistic disciplines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative and collegial working style (especially on a small team), and the ability to take initiative, handle multiple projects and deadlines, and follow through on tasks are a must.
  • Experience with anti-oppression training and social justice issues is a plus.
  • Knowledge of content and project management systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office, is preferred.

Additional Information:
The Programs Manager is a temporary, contractor position (approximately 40 hours per week, 10am–6pm, with occasional evenings) and reports to the Executive Director. A4 Staff works from the Manhattan office Tuesdays and Thursdays, and remotely Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday. Payment is hourly; additional benefits are not provided.

Compensation: $45.00/hour
