Assistant House Manager

The House Manager and Assistant House Manager welcome audience members to the Lucille Lortel Theatre, facilitating the entry process and shaping the customer experience for everyone attending productions in our West Village theatre. The Lucille Lortel Theatre is looking for individuals who:

-are committed to an equitable and inclusive community
-have outstanding patience, customer service and interpersonal skills, and feel comfortable talking to anyone
-work well under pressure, multitask, and demonstrate superb attention to detail
-can work independently and as part of a team
-communicate in a clear, professional manner
-have a passion for theatre

House Manager - $21/hour (four-hour minimum guaranteed per performance) plus weekly
administration hours (3-5 hours/week). The House Manager is expected to be available for all performances. Employment will be contingent on applicant obtaining FDNY certificates of fitness (Theatre will pay certificate fees). This position reports to the Facility Manager. The House Manager:

-ensures the safety of everyone in the Theatre, including complying with FDNY reporting and other regulations, engaging with local authorities, and dealing with medical and other emergencies
-supervises front-of-house including dealing with patrons, stage management, and house staff, as well as scheduling volunteer ushers
-welcomes audience members into the theatre and scans tickets and vaccination passes, as applicable
-manages lobby and restroom traffic, resolves audiences’ issues, and serves as a friendly face for audience members seeking assistance
-executes post-performance walk through of the house for programs, light trash pick-up and lost items

Assistant House Manager - $18/hour (four-hour minimum guaranteed per performance).
Assistant House Managers are expected to be available for 3-4 performances per week.
Employment will be contingent on applicant obtaining FDNY certificates of fitness (Theatre will pay certificate fees). This position reports to the House Manager. The Assistant House Manager:

-supports House Manager, Company Manager, and Box Office Staff in ensuring the comfort and safety of audiences
-welcomes audience members into the theatre and scans tickets and vaccination passes, as applicable
-manages lobby and restroom traffic, resolves audiences’ issues, and serves as a friendly face for audience members seeking assistance
-executes post-performance walk through of the house for programs, light trash pick-up and lost items
