The Director of Corporate Engagement and Special Events is a key fundraiser for the Museum and leads the Corporate Engagement program (corporate membership and corporate sponsorship), the annual fundraising gala and the rental events program. Together, these areas bring in $2M to the Museum each year and are a significant part of the institution’s Renewing the Promise Campaign (2019-2024).

The Director of Corporate Engagement and Special Events is a senior member and integral part of the Development team, helping to set strategy and create a strong community of patrons. The Director reports to the Chief Development Officer and works closely with internal departments to thoughtfully cultivate the mission and vision of the Gardner Museum for future generations.

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried, benefit eligible position.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or equivalent
  • 7+years or demonstrated success in managing special events or experience with development and/or special events
  • Success in meeting financial goals
  • Experience in managing people and volunteer leaders
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service skills, sense of humor and overall flexibility important
  • Stage or production management experience and/or arts administration a plus
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends required
