The Development Assistant will be an integral member of the staff at Classic Stage Company (CSC), an award-winning Off-Broadway theater company committed to reimagining classic stories for contemporary audiences. This position supports the Development Department in all areas of our annual fundraising efforts, including: institutional giving, individual donor campaigns and CSC’s Patron program, and special events. The Development Assistant is primarily responsible for record-keeping, administrative processing, and research projects, and will also play an integral role in managing donor communications and facilitating fundraising campaigns.

The Development Assistant will also be a key ambassador of CSC’s mission through interactions with donors. This role requires an outgoing self-starter who works well in a small, fast-paced, team-oriented office, while simultaneously working autonomously with great attention to detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide administrative support to Development Department throughout the year
  • Process all contributions and donor acknowledgement letters
  • Maintain accurate donor records
  • Create and maintain solicitation and communication calendars for Institutional Donors and Individual Giving
  • Assist with Patron ticket booking and tracking special event attendance
  • Support the creation and organization of Individual Giving solicitation communication materials, including collaborating on social media and digital fundraising campaigns
  • Compile regular donor listings reports
  • Assist with prospect research, iWave screening projects, and maintaining prospect files
  • Assist with revenue reporting and analysis
  • Proofreading and contributing to grant proposals and reports
  • Attend and assist at special events and cultivation events

Reporting to the Director of Development, this is a non-exempt, full time position anticipating 40 hours a week including occasional evenings and weekends for special events and during performance runs. Annual salary of $50,000 plus health insurance (medical, dental, vision).

Requirements

  • Highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • At least one year’s administrative experience; development/fundraising experience is a plus, but not required
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office; database/CRM experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with colleagues and with donors
  • Passion for the arts’ and theater’s role in the community, and an active knowledge of or desire to learn about New York City philanthropic and cultural communities
