Crash Course: Comedy, The UCB Way

For decades, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (www.ucbcomedy.com) was NYC’s premier home for improv and sketch comedy. Our alumni list is a veritable who’s who of 21st century comedy stars. We are thrilled to finally be reopening in New York after closing our doors in March of 2020. But we want to do things differently than before.

Though we made significant strides in diversity and representation in the years leading up to the pandemic, we want to get as many new people and perspectives involved at UCB as possible, with fewer barriers to entry. So we are doing a FREE Zoom seminar to give folks a taste of what we do at UCB.

Here’s a description of the Free Seminar, CRASH COURSE: COMEDY, THE UCB WAY:

For decades, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre has been a hugely influential comedy brand. What sets it apart from the pack? It uses a method for creating comedy, and that method works. Join New York’s team of Artistic Directors for this Zoom seminar that uses clips of improv, sketch, and characters to introduce you to our bedrock principle: The Game of the Scene. Are you interested in getting involved with improv/sketch comedy/UCB but have no idea where to start? Dip your toe in with this crash course!

The seminar will take place Thursday, April 6, 7-9pm via ZOOM.

Requirements

For artists interested in improv, sketch, and character comedy. You must have never taken a class at UCB. Newbies only. :)
