Casting Call: Short Film "BETI"

Hi all! Our team is looking for folks to play the following roles for our SAG microbudget short film ‘BETI,’ written by Dilshad Vadsaria and produced by Roadtrip Productions. We shoot May 20-22, 2023 in Acton, CA. Rate is scale.

CALIFORNIA/LA LOCAL HIRE

[PAYAL] 50-60s, Female, South Asian, Southeast Asian. A cashier at a gas station, Payal presents herself to be narrow-minded, argumentative, and judgmental. However, she opens Neha up to a dose of empathy by inadvertently showing her there is more than meets the eye to her stereotypical façade. Scenes will be in English AND a monologue in either Urdu, Gujarati, or Hindi.

[LONI] 50s-60s, Female, Any ethnicity. A warm-hearted lifer of the waitressing circuit, Loni marches to her own beat with just enough Mom energy. She is overtly friendly, overbearing even, but these outward qualities are actually hiding a deep loneliness. Combine them with the years she’s worked in the service industry, Loni is innately instinctive and inquisitive. She regales Neha with her own brand of quirk, causing Neha to thaw, if only just a bit.
