Call for Multilingual Actors - "TONGUES" Workshop

ABOUT “TONGUES”

Tongues, a multilingual community performance project, is calling artists and storytellers to join our collaborative workshop to share true-life experiences with ESL(English-as-a-Second-Language), and explore the questions of:

[How does multilingualism shape who you are?]
[How can we communicate when we don’t share the same language?]

PROJECT TIMELINE:

Starting in April, we’ll be conducting workshops each weekend, where each participant shares their stories about navigating the world as a multilingual person, followed by theatre games inspired by shared stories.

After 5 workshop sessions, they plan to present in front of a small group of audience. The presentation will be based on the stories shared throughout the workshops and the collaborative work done by everyone involved.

WHAT: A work-in-progress multilingual performance project

WHEN: 5 sessions on the weekends
starting the week of April 13. Presentation in May

WHERE: Upper West Side

Requirements

General availability during weekends on April and mid May.

ESL(English-as-a-Second-Language) speakers, or self-identified multilingual speakers.

Professional acting background is not required. Anyone with an interest in acting and performing is welcome to sign up.
