Antaeus Theatre Company is an actor-driven theater company in Glendale, CA that explores and produces timely and timeless works, grounded in our passion for the Classics. The newly created Associate Artistic Director holds a leadership position at Antaeus. The successful candidate will enthusiastically embrace the theater’s work, and convey it in their interactions with the community. This position reports to the Executive Director, works extensively with our volunteer Artistic Director(s), and interacts with the Board, Staff, and Company members. They will oversee the day-to-day operations of the artistic department while maintaining the highest possible administrative and production standards for the company. The AAD will also serve as a consistent public face of Antaeus both locally and nationally.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Starting pay for this position will be $65,000+ and will be commensurate with experience. While the AAD position will work remotely if needed to comply with stay-at-home orders, this position will be based in Los Angeles once our building has reopened.

Requirements

-Appreciates and is enthusiastic about theater and the important role that cultural
organizations play in the life of a vibrant community. Must be able to balance the many challenges inherent in working in a growing, fast-paced intimate theater environment.
-A real love of artists. A deep and broad knowledge of playwrights, including new and emerging contemporary playwrights.
-A clear and demonstrable commitment to anti-racism and setting tangible goals around EDI values.
-A demonstrated expertise in budgeting, producing, and managing artistic projects. Must be extremely organized, adept at planning, setting priorities, and focusing on the details while not losing sight of the big picture.
-The successful candidate must be a true collaborator and possess the ability to work in a team environment. Confident, personable, and positive individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
-Experience within an organization driving change with tact and finesse.
