Applications are now open for the free New York Portfolio Review which is produced by The New York Times photo department, Photoville and Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York.

This year we are bringing together 80 talented photographers with 80 top photo editors, publishers, curators and gallery owners for the 9th annual New York Portfolio Review on March 26th and 27th, 2022. This year’s review will be virtual and will occur over Zoom because of ongoing Covid-19 safety concerns.

On Sunday March 20th there will be a day of online workshops and presentations for the photographers focusing on working with curators and photo editors, running a business and negotiating contracts, editing and sequencing your own photos and self care.

Each participant will receive eight private critiques in total - four on Saturday March 26th and four on Sunday March 27th. To participate you must be able to attend both days.

Selected participants will submit their top choices for reviewers of their work. We will match photographers with as many of those reviewers as possible.

Requirements

Participation is open to anyone 18 or older. All types of photography will be considered.

Please note: Photographers who attended last year’s review are not eligible to apply. Those who attended once in previous years can apply for this year’s review, but they must submit new work. Those who have already attended the review twice cannot apply.

Application Instructions

To enter, send no more than 20 photos total, from one or two projects, using the form below. The files should be JPEGS, 1,500 pixels across and 72 D.P.I. We will inform those who are accepted by February 10th, 2022. Be sure to triple-check the email address you submit.
