"For Here or To Go?: a conversation on Chinese restaurants with writer Curtis Chin and owner Peter Lee
6 – 8PM
Chinese restaurants have a cherished place in America. And for Chinese Americans, they’ve been essential to our community’s history and progress, a source of economic security, community engagement, and political empowerment. However, many of these businesses have been facing extraordinary challenges since COVID and the rise in anti-Asian hate. Please join us for this fun conversation on the history and current status of these cherished businesses with the owner of Hop Kee, Peter Lee.
This event is part of “For Here or To Go,” a national series of conversations to discuss the history and future of Chinese restaurants in the US and promote the paperback release of author Curtis Chin’s memoir, “Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant.”
Light appetizers to be served. Maximum capacity is 50. RSVP required. Email info@curtisfromdetroit.com.
