Proficient dancers trained in a different technique are welcome to take class. We invite you to try a new dance technique! Free to attend, professional open level.

6:30-7:30pm: Floorwork Foundation

In this class, sarAika will share their discoveries and analysis of the use of the body through a warm-up that focuses on increasing the space of the joints while stretching. Followed by exercises which break down the fundamental elements of how to approach the floor and move safely on the floor using joints efficiency and momentum, decreasing the impact of joints and use of muscles.

7:30 - 8:30pm: AfroCaribbean Dance

This class fuses the traditional and contemporary dances Afro-Caribbean diaspora and is open to all levels and genders.

About sarAika movement collective: sarAika movement collective is a contemporary dance collective, founded by immigrants and queer women Aika Takeshima and Sara Pizzi, advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the dance ecosystem. They spread awareness on topical aspects or personal insight by creating multidisciplinary collaborative performances, sarAika makes dance for and about people.

About CarNYval Dancers: Kiara Paige is a Professional Dancer, Dance Educator & Choreographer with over ten years of experience in performing professionally. Her passion lies in dances from the AfroCaribbean diaspora. She is the Founder/Artistic Director of her dance company, CarNYval Dancers as well as the Founder of her newest project, Kulture Kave.
