BROOKLYN, NY - Muzosynth Orchestra has always curated artists from boldly eclectic backgrounds into one show, underpinned by a central tenet: everyone must improvise.
On Sunday, Dec 3rd at 7:30pm, storytelling is the name of the game. Groupmuse presents Muzosynth Orchestra, partnering with Big aLICe Barrel Room, for an evening of “Act I Scene I”. It takes place at Big aLICe Barrel Room in Industry City at 52 34th St, Brooklyn, NY. Tickets are $20, purchased at the event page, and $15 for Groupmuse Supermuser members.
Groupmuse is a worker- and musician-owned cooperative seeking to uplift artists and strengthen broader community bonds through live, intimate performances of historically-rooted music. Their next Massivemuse, “Act I Scene I”, presents Muzosynth Orchestra, described by The Road to Sound as combining “lightness with their passion for complex improvisation, making experiences that feel both musically illuminating and human.”
Muzosynth-founders violinist Katherine Kyu Hyeon Lim and pianist Joey Chang combine with:
Drummer and producer Kobi “Trenchfoot” Abcede, aka !KOBI
R&B and pop singer-songwriter Sekayi
Poet, author, mixed media artist, and activist Brad Walrond
House of Zion founder and Vogueing icon Pony Zion
Katherine and Joey share, “Pony, Brad, Sekayi, and Kobi are four titans in our cultural world. Each of them are powerhouse artists, leaders, producers, all creating excellent, new, topical music, movements, and meanings. Across the disparate worlds of experimental, technical languages we speak, we all unite around the spoken word. Anything can happen as we combine improvised gripping poetry, sweet vocalizations, passionate dance, and music improvisation from the sublime to chaotic.”
